Synopsis

Mr. Patrick Hunter provided a site plan of the proposed Facility identifying it as a

“Finishing Facility” whereby the animals are grown to finish size before shipped to

market.

The site plan shows four buildings located between 1,374 feet and 1,400 south of

Roys Road and over 900 feet west of Shimmel Road. All buildings are built over eight

foot deep reinforced concrete pits that are sealed to prevent seepage into the ground. The

buildings will be well ventilated, heated and cooled as required.

Slats will be placed over the pits to allow the manure to fall into them and then

the manure will be collected, (pumped) from the pits two times each year and hauled

away from the site in the spring and fall of each year to coincide with farm planting and

harvesting schedules.

The manure will be injected eight to twelve inches into the ground of farm fields

located approximately four miles west of the site.

The turn over rate is approximately 120 days, meaning that about every 120 days,

(4 months) the entire animal population of approximately 9,000 will be shipped to market

and a new shipment of immature animals will be received to replace those that have been

shipped out.

Trucks will be hauling feed to the site on a two week schedule during which they

will be moving to and from on a very regular basis..

H & H Feed and Grain prepares and mixes their own feed which consist of corn,

soy beans, mash, vitamins and animal fat collected from restaurants.

Planned Traffic Routes:

1. Feed and grain deliveries will be south on Shimmel Road and right onto Roys

Road.

2. Manure transport will be west on Roys Road to the injection sites

3. Hog deliveries to the farm will be from both the north and south on Shimmel

Road.

4. Finished hogs will be transported south on Shimmel Road.

A site in operation, but smaller in size south east of Sturgis was observed.

The barn is less than 300 feet from the road. At the time of the observation

the wind was blowing in the direction of the road from the barn, and no

noticeable odor was detected.

Conclusion: The operation plans will meet all requirements of the regulating

bodies, and based on observation made to date should not have a negative

impact on our community.
