newStarry Stonewort Note From Paul Hausler - L.T.P.O.A. Aquatic Management Consultant - Just to update everyone on the ongoing battle against starry stonewort. I have had some correspondence with a professor from the University of Geneva (Switzerland) who is currently doing research on the biology and life cycle of starry stonewort. She said her paper should be published this spring or summer – the abstract seemed very applicable to potentially finding a more efficient and targeted control method(s). She was reluctant to release the data until the paper is published though – smart move on her part. These days the internet is fraught with half-truths, outright lies, and unsubstantiated claims. Someone needs to invent a truth filter.

Lake Level Notice - Many of you have observed the lake level rise since it reached the targeted drawdown level. The dam gates have not been altered. The level increase is due to the amount of rain and snow. The timeline to return the lake to the court ordered level has not been changed.

Lake Templene Dredging project update - The petition submissions to the townships has had good results and less than desirable results. Nottawa Township has accepted the petitions and moved the process into the approval stage. Sherman Township has rejected our petitions basically because they thought the language was not specific enough, even though both township approved the language before the signature process started. A new petition for Sherman Township has been drafted which contains the additional specificity that Sherman Township wanted and is being review by the LTPOA attorney. Once we get written approval from Sherman Township, which we expect to happen by late Sept. We will then immediately start the re-signing process.

> Historical background and activities related to Lake Care Management - With the continuation of house construction and home sales around the lake, the L.T.P.O.A. Board felt it was important to inform the new comers, and remind the old timers of the journey our lake has taken. We also want everyone to understand the controlling factors guiding the lake care management activity. A document has been posted under "ON THE LAKE" >>LAKE MANAGEMENT >> MANAGEMENT HISTORY for historical background and activities related to Lake Care Management. Please take a moment to read it.
